Sydney Grammar School St.Ives, Library + Administration Building
Complementing an established architectural palette of low storey, painted masonry and terracotta tiled roofs, we have been able to generate at one level a modern open plan learning centre with reading ‘theatre’, workshop and adjacent complimentary teaching spaces that locks in to the primary school circulation spine with a new and welcoming entry courtyard, while above the administration centre is turned to address the street.
Redlands School, Master Plan
In 2008, GWA were commissioned to consider the planning opportunities and prepare a master plan.
Fabrication Workshop/UTS
Faculty of Design,
Architecture + Building
The pragmatic and inspirational design for the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building provides a showcase for the Fabrication Workshop Department which was developed together with the Photographic Department . The “slick industrial” aesthetic was used as the vehicle to design educational facilities as a series of shop fronts.
Haymarket Block D – UTS Faculty of Business
An existing labyrinth of dark deep floor suite of acedemic offices was transformed into light, clear working environments for two school within the one faculty. Each school had its own entries and meeting facilities that though colour and careful selection of material, provide a unique identity for each but at the same time maintain design consistency and are faithful to the UTS brand.
UNSW – Confucius Institute
GWA were awarded the contract to provide architectural services to UNSW for the concept design of their Confucius Institute promoting educational, artistic and business links with China.
Whilst a small scale project, this is a high end interior fitout with a high profile. We have succeeded in delivering the project from concept to tender over a four week period.
Loreto School, Tremayne Adaptive ReUse-
Roseville College, Stage 2
We developed a master plan that provided for the long term educational needs of the school.
The campus is designed as a series of internally and externally focused courtyard spaces that are linked by a continuous network of covered ‘streets’.
The design strategy seeks to unify the campus architecture within a standardised architectural palette.

Northholm Grammar School, Stage 1
The New Stable is the first stage of the NGS Master Plan to be implemented. The building was designed as a Multi-Purpose Hall and Green Room. The design brings together simple forms which are clear and simple together with the site specific context of climate as well as the Australian traditional rural vernacular and their underlying rationale.
Moriah College, ILC + Year 6 Centre
The Year 6 area has been design to form a plinth to the development with the library component developed to capture the spirit of the College and be a highly contextural.contemporary design. A deliberately ‘clean’ rectilinear building form allows for efficiency in planning, the glass and wing roof encapsulating a sense of openness with the benefit of natural daylight. The new facility is designed to benefit from 21st Century technology.
Moriah Primary School, Queens Park
The creation of a new kindergarten-to-year-5 School adjoining the senior campus to consolidate the Moriah School in one location. The project includes 28 classrooms, hall and ancillary functions.
Natural light, ventilation and colour were key considerations in the architectural design but with an additional focus on security and traffic management.
K-2 Centre, Knox Grammar School
The award winning K-2 Centre was the first project to be implemented under the master plan developed by GWA on behalf of the Client. One of the primary principles in designing the Centre was to emulate the existing buildings on the campus whilst at the same time providing a light, colourful and contemporary learning environment. The plan maximises natural cross ventilation and daylight penetration.
Knox Grammar School – The Great Hall
The Multi-Purpose Hall complex has a 35m clear span, covering three basketball courts and tiered mezzanine seating for over 2000 spectators.
The facility also has the design flexibility to provide for theatre and music performances and full school assembly, plus a 500m2 pre-function Lobby and Art Gallery.
Kambala School – Early Learning Centre
Kambala School, Bain Independant Learning Centre
This design increased the floor area of the existing library by extending the existing envelope to the south and by adding additional internal reading balconies to the mezzanine level. There is a new common room to the south of the existing with an associated terrace. The space has been planned to capture the amazing Harbour views.
Stage 1, Mosman Preparatory School
This project was to remodel the existing Mosman Preparatory School buildings from single to two storey for use as general purpose learning environments and ancillary uses.
