St. Joseph’s College Chapel Refurbishment

The Journey

St Josephs’ College is a Catholic School in the Marist tradition, one of Sydney’s oldest established boys’ schools. Working closely with a liturgical design consultant, we developed designs for renovation of the school chapel, first constructed in 1938. The design scope included all new liturgical furniture, as well as complete refurbishment of the interior and services of the building.

The new layout provides a tailored space to enact the current rites of the Catholic Church. More flexible seating arrangements and an extended Altar platform are provided, encouraging a stronger sense of the gathered assembly. Custom modifications to the existing light fixtures enhance the soaring, ornate decorative ceiling and new integrated lighting and AV systems will allow technology to be subtly customised to the liturgical actions.
