The aim of the project was to transform the existing work environment from dark and warren-like, to a bright and contemporary place to learn, collaborate and study.
The UNSW Astrophysics academic work environment is located within the 1950’s brick building – the ‘Old Main Building’, UNSW’s first permanent building on the Kensington campus.
The new work and study environments foster a more direct interface between the different users and as a result the isolation and passivity of traditional work environments is a thing of the past. Active engagement and participation is now embedded in workplace culture and is further enhanced by ubiquitous technology.
