This pole storage depot was one of two significant Ausgrid projects completed in 2012. Our role was to assist with the detailed planning of a greenfield site with a natural topographic fall of over six metres from north to south. Vehicular and pedestrian movements were major considerations as well as the pole storage, servicing, goods and materials. The design strategy was built around safety and security.
Whilst the building was to be predominantly a storage depot, the brief called for a commercial facility for operations staff, visiting operators and management representatives. They required comfortable, modern work environments and amenities. The site was subject to a number of stringent easements and other limitations such as bush fire prone land, sensitive flora and fauna.
The facilities have been carefully planned to maximise visual connectivity between the hierarchy of spaces. Display windows were designed and installed to enable the Institute to securely display their collection of cultural artefacts along the public corridor.
