Our challenge was to convert the late Federation Romanesque style, St Peter’s Catholic School building and associated 1970’s building located in the heart of the Little Riley Heritage Conservation Area, into a series of contemporary child care environments.
The old school building’s heritage significance was maintained and we took an adaptive-reuse approach to the spaces within. Naturally, the 1970’s component lent itself to more modern interventions.
Surrounded by mature trees, the outdoor play space is both a haven from the surrounding urban environment and a safe, nurturing place for inquiry based learning.
