UTS Sydney Building 1 Levels 20 & 21

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Constructed in the early 70’s, Building 1 at UTS is a significant work of mid-century modernism, where structural expressionism along with robust and natural finishes are central to the architecture.   The interior fitout aims to complement the existing architecture and offers a welcoming, contemporary, prestigious, flexible and innovative workplace environment in an open plan format with a small number of offices, meeting rooms and other ancillary spaces to support the intended use.   Vistas from the lift lobby exploit North and South views and improved natural light of the floor.   By grouping ancillary functions and enclosed offices around the core and locating open workspace and public zones around the glazed perimeter, the workspace is bright, open, transparent and dynamic, encouraging interaction and collaboration. CNH Capital Commercial Offices St. Mary’s

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] CNH Capital are an international agricultural machinery business, with Australian Headquarters in St Mary’s NSW. The commercial fit out is aligned to their agricultural nature of their business.   The project involved arranging the various business groups within the company to enhance efficient management – the open plan environment was key to achieving this goal.   The materials were selected to provide a natural and warm palette. Feature timber wall louvres and ceiling panels are used to delineate work areas from circulation routes.   The facilities have been planned to maximise visual connectivity between the spaces and to help define the path of travel through the building. The fitout was driven to a high degree by a very limited budget – as such the outcome represents exceptional value for money. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

UNSW Mathews L1 CATS Refurbishment

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Our brief was to rejuvenate an existing Centrally Allocated Teaching Space (CATS) area in the modernist Mathews Building of UNSW.   The project connects the Mathews Tower and UNSW Fare food court at lower ground level and consists of classrooms, break out and study areas. The space also acts as a thoroughfare between the two buildings and is used extensively by students and university staff.   As part of the project, eight CATS rooms were upgraded to modern teaching provisions, including five ‘high tech’ classrooms with student ‘pod’ arrangements. Each pod was allocated a fully connected display station for remote teaching and video conferences. Three classrooms were designated ‘low tech’, providing a traditional approach to teaching but with provision for future upgrading and connectivity. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

Macquarie Park Rose Chapel

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] An existing ring of mature eucalypti grows in a circular garden within an existing car park.   Within this, we have introduced a circular growing wall to create a separating surround to the inner sanctuary of The Rose Chapel. The nave of the chapel is a pure ellipse which is offset from the radial geometry in response to existing constraints and generating both inside and outside rooms that remain discreet from the public realm.   The intended purpose of the chapel is to cater to intimate services for smaller congregations.  The external face of the inner sanctuary is contrasting raked linear bricks emphasising the sculptural form and significance of this main space.   Within, a solitary shaft of light falls over the catafalque. Ausgrid Ku-ring-gai Pole Storage Depot

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] This pole storage depot was one of two significant Ausgrid projects completed in 2012. Our role was to assist with the detailed planning of a greenfield site with a natural topographic fall of over six metres from north to south. Vehicular and pedestrian movements were major considerations as well as the pole storage, servicing, goods and materials. The design strategy was built around safety and security.   Whilst the building was to be predominantly a storage depot, the brief called for a commercial facility for operations staff, visiting operators and management representatives. They required comfortable, modern work environments and amenities. The site was subject to a number of stringent easements and other limitations such as bush fire prone land, sensitive flora and fauna.   The facilities have been carefully planned to maximise visual connectivity between the hierarchy of spaces. Display windows were designed and installed to enable the Institute to securely display...

Hope and Sanctuary Sculpture

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Journey [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="25px"][vc_column_text] Dedicated to the promotion of dialogue around self-harm and mental health: To those struggling to find their peace, to the families who have suffered loss and to the people and organisations that offer support for the wellbeing of people.   The Hope and Sanctuary Sculpture was unveiled on Suicide Prevention Day, 10 September 2018 at Macquarie Park Cemetery by the Honourable Julia Gillard AC - Chair of Beyond Blue.   “A dichotomy exists in life - strength, resilience and stability represented by the upright recycled wooden post and fragility and vulnerability represented by the leaning liquid post poised on the loose rocks below. The concept of eternity equalises these opposing forces represented by the infinity symbol that is used to embrace and bring optimism”. Toby Wetherill – Creative Artist and Architect   The kaleidoscope of various sized butterflies adorning the top of the sculpture circle the area to create dappled light as you might find...
